JAKARTA.

The Nasdaq was the biggest loser of the three major averages, pressured by declines in momentum and biotech stocks.

CLSA Research Today:
AKR Corporindo (AKRA IJ) – Fever Pitch, downgrading to SELL from UPF with revised TP Rp4,300 (previously Rp4,100).

Jayden likes AKR’s business, however struggles to see upside in the stock given its fuel business is facing a confluence of external headwinds and valuations remain pricey (26x PE).

After a 2013 performance which came in below our expectations, we lower fuel volumes from 2.5BL to 2.3BL in 14CL and to 2.5BL from 2.75BL in 15CL. As a result, we cut EPS by 13-18%.

Sales to coal miners continue to decline and we estimate to Freeport (13% of 2013 fuel sales) will be cut by 60-70% as the continued stalemate on onshore mineral refinery drags on. Other mineral miners (10%) are also at risk.

After managing positive working capital in 2011, AKR has seen its working capital terms steadily decline for 8 quarters.

An outstanding receivable from a Central Kalimantan coal producer is expected to be paid in 3Q14. An increased reliance on the Gov’t due to higher subsidized volumes has the consequence of lengthening the receivable days also.

The East Java industrial estate and port is an interesting long term venture, however it’s more than fully priced in our view.

Our DCF model suggests a value of US$130m. We incorporate updated guidance on land sales (20-120hA in 14CL-15CL), which we factor into our revised earnings estimates.

Rolling forward to a 15CL EPS base, our target price is adjusted to 4,300/sh (prev Rp4,100/sh). With 15% downside, we lower the rec to Sell. We anticipate consensus cuts after reported earnings to be the catalyst for underperformance.

Global Market Snapshot 4 Apr
==================
• U.S. stocks slipped as investors turned cautious ahead of Friday's monthly jobs report, while a drop in biotech and momentum shares dragged the Nasdaq down nearly 1%.

• U.S. trade deficit unexpectedly widens as exports decrease while jobless claim rose more than forecast last week after reaching a 6-month low, a sign that progress in the labor market remains fitful.

• ECB keeps rates on hold and opened the door on Thursday to turning on its money-printing presses to boost the euro zone economy and keep inflation from staying too low for too long, albeit not just yet.

• Asian markets settled in for a subdued session on Friday as investors counted down the hours to the U.S. jobs report.

• China’s debt is poised to keep expanding faster than the economy through at least 2016, testing the limits of a credit-driven growth model that’s already exceeded the imbalances in Japan before its lost decade.

• Ahead of the elections, analysts have raised concerns over the participation of former members of the military in politics, which they warn could have negative implications for the country’s democratic process.

• Tin prices rose to a 3-week high on signs of shrinking supplies and increasing global demand. Orders to withdraw tin from LME warehouses rose 12%. World demand will exceed supply by 10,000 tons this year, BNP Paribas said. Exports from Indonesia slid 28% yoy in February.

From CLSA:

ERAA, TELE, TRIO:
Gov’t to consider imposing luxury tax on imported smartphones. Gov’t estimated 55 million phones were imported last year with total value of US$3bn. 15% of those goods are estimated to be luxury goods such as smartphones and tablets. Last year, Industry Ministry floated the idea of 20% luxury tax on smartphones more than Rp5mn(US$442) in order to cut smartphones imports by 50%. Yesterday Finance Minister and Industry Minister discussed this idea again in a meeting. Trade Minister said he supported this idea when contacted separately.

Comment: Luxury tax on smartphones will have negative impact on phone distributors and retailers such as ERAA, TELE, and TRIO. However, the gov’t also plans to give some incentives for companies that do research and development in cell phone industry and human resource training. ERAA is currently building a small assembling factory in Greater Jakarta area to get some technical expertise, which may allow them to apply for the incentive in the future.

Three SOE banks prepare Rp7t (US$609m) lending to fund Rp10tn (US$869m) construction of a 500kV electricity transmission along the East coast of Sumatra. The 5 major SOE contractors (ADHI, WIKA, PTPP, WSKT and Hutama Karya) will construct the project and lending will be disbursed under a syndicate of banks Mandiri, BNI and BRI. The project is structured such that it receives a 16% IRR through tolling fees.

Comment: Infrastructure development is a critical development for Indonesia to sustain growth. The key issue for the banks is duration mismatch as the project is being intermediated with 3 month time deposits at present. This is why deepening of the onshore capital markets is critical (Mandiri plans to raise a medium term note this year which will go some way to addressing this issue). The contractors will be awarded construction works for the project; assuming each contractors get equal proportion it represents more than 10% annual new orderbook.
